There was a time, once upon,
When we really knew what the fuck was going on.
This is life, it's like one big game.
Everyone's competing for the money & the fame.
& the celebrity's faces are in the magazines of shame.
But that's their own self to blame.
"Break dance, not hearts."
You know, graffiti is a type of art.
I know, a little random but,
I thought I'd throw that in.
Get caught up once, your world begins to spin.
"Make love, not war."
The sweet sounds of that,
It's starts with one kiss,
& then ends up like this.
"Babe I think I'm pregnant,
What do I do?"
"The hell, it aint mine,
So out of my life with you."
Highschool drop outs,
All because a summer's romance.
From a wild night out,
To a baby that had no chance.
Is this the kind of life we're driven to live?
We receive and receive,
But never want to give.
We're selfish, we're greedy.
We're senseless, we're needy.
You see "Fuck life" sprayed in graffiti.
Doing drugs to take the pain away?
Making your life shorter every other day?
Is that the way you really wanna die?
Don't you see the tears in your mother's eyes?
Popping pills everyday? You must be feeling crappy.
It sucks how you have to depend on stupid shit to make you happy.
Back in the days, we had something called friends.
Oh right, you lost them when you were drunk
& drove your car into a dead end.
Lessons not learned, aren't you the least bit concerned?
You're buying useless shit with the money you've earned.
How about the people on the streets?
Forced to find a way to sleep warm and find things to eat.
This ain't something to make everyone out there feel out of line.
But when is anybody gonna finally get the sign.
To open up your eyes, maybe finally you'll see.
That this is the world we live in. It's not some fantasy.
